Welcome to my new course about the crazy, extravagant Budapest Gambit! This opening is good for attacking players and full of interesting tactical and dynamic ideas. Also, this gambit could be a good surprise for your opponent, because it's quite rare but tricky.
I am Nikolai Maevskiy - a chess coach since 2016, FIDE master and sports psychologist.
When we play the Budapest Gambit, we try to avoid closed pawn structures and open the position immediately. Our idea is to get the initiative early in the opening through a pawn sacrifice and create an unclear, complicated position.
This gambit was first played by Géza Maróczy in a tournament in Budapest. That's the origin of its name!
So, let's start and play Nf6 now!
